Barbara Smith 15:59 09/11/26

I dealt with the front end process of getting a move set up for my son. I worked closely with Mr.Mills and was very pleased with his pleasant manner and professionalism. He was very through and helped me get as much information correctly provided as to give us a clear estimate for the move. My son had a bad experience with his last move and Mr. Mills was able to give him a comfort level for this move. The movers were quick and pleasant to be around. They completed the job in the estimated time frame.

Fred T 03:46 02/21/24

I’ve done several moves around the world and I have to commend Alpaca Moving and Storage for their excellent work and professionalism. The crew size was actually reflective of the size of my shipment (other moves in the past sent minimal crew) and they were very respectful of the property. They had a system in place that made things move quickly and efficiently. The items that were disassembled at the point of origin were reassembled and reassembled well. If I have to move ever again they will be my first call.

Massimo Valenti 15:21 01/30/24

This is my third move with these guys and as always they nailed it!!!! Thanks APACA we are loving our new home.

Chris Borchardt 20:03 09/05/23

We just wrapped up our best military move in 26 years and APACA was one of the heroes of the effort. Our 15,000lbs of household goods were packed up in Oklahoma City expecting a direct delivery move into a base home but our home was switched while we were on the road and APACA came through as the temporary storage for the five weeks we had to wait until we could move in.We move every two to three years in the military so we know the benefit of a direct delivery move that avoids several more sets of hands associated with loading and unloading to storage and finally on to your home. We were nervous having to add a storage stop to the move but APACA was fantastic from the start helping me collect motorcycles from the shipment that we’d need for transportation during the unexpected five week wait for a home. They kept in touch over the weeks verifying schedules and on delivery day they arrived as scheduled despite how unpredictable the Air Force gate security process can be. The entire team was professional and careful with our household goods and the home. For the first time in 26 years we had zero broken dishes, glass, or picture frames. Plenty of furniture padding was used resulting in only one noticeable chip on a large heavy dresser which is truly fantastic. We’re realistic and experienced regarding what typically happens on moves with awkward heavy furniture and we were pleasantly surprised at how carefully everything was handled. Our bicycles suffered some scuffs, a few things needed some wiping down to return them to pre-move condition, and a couple extremely fragile aircraft and boat models will need some minor straightforward repairs, but nothing unexpected or unreasonable. Everything that was important to us made it in fantastic shape.Moving is hard and filled with opportunities to break valuable and important things but APACA impressed me so much that when it came time to set up ‘non-temporary storage’ for the furniture that wouldn’t fit in the base home we prioritized them #1 on our wish list to come back. I can wholeheartedly recommend the APACA teams, planning representatives, and leadership that we worked with on this move (Aug 2023) and I will put them #1 on our list when it’s time to leave Albuquerque. Thanks APACA!Chris & Tammy

Nadine Zumot 01:30 02/18/22

APACA helped move our household when we moved from Albuquerque to Melbourne Australia. The 3 men that arrived on site- Randy Otero and his team (I believe his father and a cousin too) were a DELIGHT! They were so professional, so careful and cautious with our belongings. They packed everything with such detail and care and were very pleasant to talk to. We had a great moving experience! And we are so happy to report that everything arrived in Australia without a scratch or dent, and I am talking big pieces of furniture. Thank you Randy Otero and team!

Roy Nixon 03:49 07/22/21

Ethan Jacquin 15:42 04/16/21

Would recommend!

Mr. Dennis was very professional with his crew and the newbies he was training. They had 7k# off in 2hrs with zero incident. Would gladly work with this agency in future. Thank you Ms. Jennifer for all your help on this job.

Cathy provided very clear and timely information regarding my move, Flint and his crew were professional and treated my belongings with care and respect. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew! They made my move easy and stress free. If you’re doing a military move, request them as a preferred company.

So my employer gave me three moving companies they would pay for as part of relocation. I looked up all three, Apaca had the lowest google review so I ignored them. I tried one company - they would say I'll call you right back and I wouldn't hear from them in a week. The second couldn't remember any details of my move from one conversation to the next. Finally, we decided to call Apaca since we were getting nowhere and nothing scheduled with the other companies. Glad we did. Apaca did a fantastic job. At the point in the process we called them, we needed to move fast. They were able to get us scheduled, move an entire house with a hot tub and sauna and a piano heavier then the hot tub. They were professional, extremely courteous. They made a very stressful move go very easily. The movers were absolutely fantastic - very grateful to have had them move us. Not sure why there were bad reviews - this is a great company to work with.

This company did their best to get my belongings to me as quickly as possible, despite hang ups with other parties. On moving day, only two men showed up due to the busy season. They worked tirelessly to unload and unwrap my belongings. The communication was great, and they took great care to ensure my satisfaction.

3 Local Moving Tips for Alamogordo Families

APACA Moving & Storage opened its doors in 1956, and we are still family-owned and operated. As part of the Lincoln family of companies, we have spent over 70 years moving New Mexico families, so we have seen what makes a local move go well. Here are three tips from our crews.

Tip 1: Plan Around the Desert Weather

Alamogordo summer highs average in the mid-90s in June and July. Monsoon showers can pop up in July and August. Keep boxes off wet ground and covered until they are on the truck. Tell us about anything that does not like heat, such as electronics, candles or houseplants, so we can plan for it.

Tip 2: Count Your Drawers, Cabinets and Closets

These spaces take the most time and the most boxes. Counting them before your estimate helps you guess your cost and helps us send the right crew. Group loose items together and clear your counters before we arrive.

Tip 3: Leave Extra Time for Base Gates

If you are moving onto or off of Holloman Air Force Base, gate security can add time to the day. Tell us early so we can plan the arrival time and the paperwork with you.

Why Do Families Love Living in Alamogordo?

small desert city with a large military and scientific footprint, which shapes who moves here and why.

Holloman Air Force Base. The base is about six miles southwest of town on U.S. Highway 70. It’s the area’s largest employer, with around 11,000 people on base during the day. Military life means families often move in and out.

Housing Market. According to Zillow, the typical Alamogordo home was worth about $223,281 as of August 2026. That is well under the New Mexico figure of $318,241 and the U.S. figure of $368,697 on the same Zillow report. That gap is one reason moving here locally can be a step toward homeownership.
