I dealt with the front end process of getting a move set up for my son. I worked closely with Mr.Mills and was very pleased with his pleasant manner and professionalism. He was very through and helped me get as much information correctly provided as to give us a clear estimate for the move. My son had a bad experience with his last move and Mr. Mills was able to give him a comfort level for this move. The movers were quick and pleasant to be around. They completed the job in the estimated time frame.

Fred T 03:46 02/21/24

I’ve done several moves around the world and I have to commend Alpaca Moving and Storage for their excellent work and professionalism. The crew size was actually reflective of the size of my shipment (other moves in the past sent minimal crew) and they were very respectful of the property. They had a system in place that made things move quickly and efficiently. The items that were disassembled at the point of origin were reassembled and reassembled well. If I have to move ever again they will be my first call.

Massimo Valenti 15:21 01/30/24

This is my third move with these guys and as always they nailed it!!!! Thanks APACA we are loving our new home.

Chris Borchardt 20:03 09/05/23

We just wrapped up our best military move in 26 years and APACA was one of the heroes of the effort. Our 15,000lbs of household goods were packed up in Oklahoma City expecting a direct delivery move into a base home but our home was switched while we were on the road and APACA came through as the temporary storage for the five weeks we had to wait until we could move in.We move every two to three years in the military so we know the benefit of a direct delivery move that avoids several more sets of hands associated with loading and unloading to storage and finally on to your home. We were nervous having to add a storage stop to the move but APACA was fantastic from the start helping me collect motorcycles from the shipment that we’d need for transportation during the unexpected five week wait for a home. They kept in touch over the weeks verifying schedules and on delivery day they arrived as scheduled despite how unpredictable the Air Force gate security process can be. The entire team was professional and careful with our household goods and the home. For the first time in 26 years we had zero broken dishes, glass, or picture frames. Plenty of furniture padding was used resulting in only one noticeable chip on a large heavy dresser which is truly fantastic. We’re realistic and experienced regarding what typically happens on moves with awkward heavy furniture and we were pleasantly surprised at how carefully everything was handled. Our bicycles suffered some scuffs, a few things needed some wiping down to return them to pre-move condition, and a couple extremely fragile aircraft and boat models will need some minor straightforward repairs, but nothing unexpected or unreasonable. Everything that was important to us made it in fantastic shape.Moving is hard and filled with opportunities to break valuable and important things but APACA impressed me so much that when it came time to set up ‘non-temporary storage’ for the furniture that wouldn’t fit in the base home we prioritized them #1 on our wish list to come back. I can wholeheartedly recommend the APACA teams, planning representatives, and leadership that we worked with on this move (Aug 2023) and I will put them #1 on our list when it’s time to leave Albuquerque. Thanks APACA!Chris & Tammy

Nadine Zumot 01:30 02/18/22

APACA helped move our household when we moved from Albuquerque to Melbourne Australia. The 3 men that arrived on site- Randy Otero and his team (I believe his father and a cousin too) were a DELIGHT! They were so professional, so careful and cautious with our belongings. They packed everything with such detail and care and were very pleasant to talk to. We had a great moving experience! And we are so happy to report that everything arrived in Australia without a scratch or dent, and I am talking big pieces of furniture. Thank you Randy Otero and team!

APACA was assigned to deliver my household goods from storage during my PCS. The crew was on time, professional, and friendly. They were very careful when unloading and placing my goods and worked with me to check off every box that came into the house. No items were broken and the delivery was fast and smooth. Would recommend!

Mr. Dennis was very professional with his crew and the newbies he was training. They had 7k# off in 2hrs with zero incident. Would gladly work with this agency in future. Thank you Ms. Jennifer for all your help on this job.

Cathy provided very clear and timely information regarding my move, Flint and his crew were professional and treated my belongings with care and respect. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew! They made my move easy and stress free. If you’re doing a military move, request them as a preferred company.

So my employer gave me three moving companies they would pay for as part of relocation. I looked up all three, Apaca had the lowest google review so I ignored them. I tried one company - they would say I'll call you right back and I wouldn't hear from them in a week. The second couldn't remember any details of my move from one conversation to the next. Finally, we decided to call Apaca since we were getting nowhere and nothing scheduled with the other companies. Glad we did. Apaca did a fantastic job. At the point in the process we called them, we needed to move fast. They were able to get us scheduled, move an entire house with a hot tub and sauna and a piano heavier then the hot tub. They were professional, extremely courteous. They made a very stressful move go very easily. The movers were absolutely fantastic - very grateful to have had them move us. Not sure why there were bad reviews - this is a great company to work with.

This company did their best to get my belongings to me as quickly as possible, despite hang ups with other parties. On moving day, only two men showed up due to the busy season. They worked tirelessly to unload and unwrap my belongings. The communication was great, and they took great care to ensure my satisfaction.

Long-Distance Moving Tips for Alamogordo Families

APACA Moving & Storage has been family-owned and operated since 1956. For more than 70 years, we have helped Alamogordo and Albuquerque families move near and far, and we are part of the Lincoln family of companies. Here are three tips to make your long-distance move easier.

Tip 1: Ask for a binding estimate

A binding estimate means you will not pay more than the quoted price at delivery. A non-binding estimate can change based on your shipment’s final weight. Most moves out of Alamogordo cover hundreds of miles, so a binding estimate keeps your budget steady.

Tip 2: Book early for summer

Alamogordo heats up in June and July, and PCS season is busy too. Veteran PCS says about 120,000 of the roughly 300,000 military moves each year happen in the mid-May to September peak. Book about six weeks ahead if you can, so you get the dates you want.

Tip 3: Move less to pay less

Long-distance prices depend on volume and distance, so skipping even one box saves money. Walk through your garage, closets, and storage shed before the estimator visits. Sell or donate what you do not need, and our junk removal team can haul away the rest.

Planning Your Move Out of Alamogordo

Getting Out of the Tularosa Basin

Alamogordo sits in a wide desert basin, so almost every long move starts with a long, open drive. El Paso is about 90 miles south, and Albuquerque is about 200 miles north. We plan your route, your stops, and your delivery window before the truck leaves your driveway.

Moving With Holloman Air Force Base Orders

Holloman Air Force Base is about six miles west of town, so many of our long-distance customers are military families on PCS orders. We plan around your report date and weight allowance, and we can store your goods if your orders change. Ask us about military moving when you request your estimate.

Timing Your Move Around Heat and Monsoon Season

Summer highs reach the mid-90s in June and July, and afternoon monsoon showers can pop up from July through September. We suggest loading early in the morning during the summer heat, which is easier on your family and your furniture. Call early, and we will help you pick a date that works.

Long-Distance Movers in Alamogordo FAQ

Long-distance moves with APACA run from $2,500 to $12,000, depending on volume and distance. Packing, storage, and other add-ons can also change the total. We provide a free estimate so you know the cost up front. Request yours here or call (575) 221-1202.

A long-distance move usually crosses state lines or covers several hundred miles. Movers draw the line in different places, so ask how yours defines it. Even a move to El Paso, about 90 miles away, crosses into Texas, making it an interstate move.

Federal law says interstate movers must offer two choices: Full Value Protection and Released Value. Under Released Value, the FMCSA says the mover pays no more than 60 cents per pound per article, and it costs nothing. Full Value Protection makes the mover responsible for the replacement value of lost or damaged goods. We also offer an Items of Extraordinary Value Declaration for things worth $100 per pound or more, and we will walk you through every option.

Book about six weeks before your move date, and earlier for summer. May through August is the busiest time of the year, and Holloman PCS orders add to the moves. If your date is short notice, call us at (575) 221-1202 anyway, because we do our best to fit in urgent moves.

Ask for the mover’s USDOT number and look it up with the FMCSA’s mover search tool at protectyourmove.gov. APACA’s USDOT number is 729519, and our MC number is 333895. We are fully licensed and insured.
